Dancewear Requirements

As with anything, having the appropriate tools, and wearing the correct garments is essential to learning and staying safe in class. Just as cleats and shin pads are important for soccer, dance shoes and attire are essential for proper movement and safety while learning how to dance. For Level 1 classes and up, you will see a color code as well. This is to foster a team spirit in our dance classes, reduces distractions in class, and instills values of discipline.

NOTE FOR ALL CLASSES:

NO: Princess dresses or costumes, jeans, pajamas, dangling jewelry

Long hair should be tied back away from face

Torsos should be covered, no revealing clothing

Proper shoes MUST be worn for classes and recitals.

Failure to follow dress code including proper shoes may result in warnings and/or student observing class, or student asked to change then return to class.

ALL PRE- DANCE CLASSES FOR TODDLERS, AGES 3-4, AGES 5-6

Clothing: Your choice color: Leotard, crepe skirt and tights. May also wear form fitting pants or shorts and tshirt.  No large poofy tutus or princess dresses.

Shoes: Ballet: Canvas or leather ballet shoes- pink for girls, black for boys.

            Hippity hop: Hip Hop dance sneakers (non marking soles and never worn out doors)

            Tap and Tap combo: Black tap shoes

            Jazz and Jazz combo: Black jazz shoes

BALLET 1 - BALLET 1A

Clothing: Black leotard, pink tights. May also wear black crepe wrap skirt. As needed: Black sports bra or camisole leotard for chest support.

Shoes: Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes 

BALLET 2

Clothing: Navy leotard, pink tights. May wear crepe skirt or black form fitting shorts. 

Shoes: Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes

BALLET 3, BALLET 3/4

Clothing: Burgundy leotard, pink tights. May wear crepe skirt or black form fitting shorts.  As needed: black sports bra or camisole leotard for chest support. 

Shoes: Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes

PRE-POINTE

Clothing: Whatever your other normal class wear may be.  Must also wear convertable or footless tights. 

Shoes: NO pointe shoes yet. Class is taken in regular leather or canvas ballet shoes. 

CONTEMPORARY 1, 1A

Clothing: Black leotard, black form fitting shorts or pants. May also wear stirrup or footless tan tights, or grey or black tank top/tshirt

Shoes: No shoes, dancers are barefoot

JAZZ 1 & 1A, JAZZ/BALLET 1, JAZZ/HIP HOP 1 & 1A

Clothing: Black leotard. Black or solid color your choice form fitting pants or shorts. May also wear solid color tshirt or tank top. 

Shoes: Jazz and Jazz Combo: Black jazz shoes

           Jazz/Ballet Combo: Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes, black jazz shoes. 

JAZZ 2

Clothing: Navy leotard, black or solid color your choice form fitting shorts or pants. As needed: black sports bra or camisole leotard for chest support. 

Shoes: Tan jazz shoes

JAZZ 3, JAZZ 3/4

Clothing: Burgundy leotard, black or solid color of your choice form fitting shorts or pants. As needed: black sports bra or camisole leotard for chest support. 

Shoes: Tan jazz shoes

HIP HOP

Clothing: Black leotard with your choice color tshirt or tank top, comfortable shorts or pants. Please no bared midriffs, sports bra for chest support as needed. Gentleman: solid color tshirt or tanktop, comfortable shorts or pants.

Shoes: Hip Hop: Black, non-marking sole Hip Hop sneakers of your choice. These shoes should be only worn in dance class, no street shoes!!

 

TAP 1 & 1A 

Clothing: Black leotard, may wear black or tan tights with black crepe skirt or black form fitting pants or shorts

Shoes: Black jazz tap shoes (flexible in middle arch of foot)

TAP 2

 Clothing: Navy letoard. May wear black or tan tights with black crepe skirt or black form fitting pants or shorts. 

Shoes: Black jazz tap shoes (flexible in middle arch of foot)
